It is hard to believe that more than twenty years have passed since I started writing THE NOTEBOOK. The writing of this novel was a tortuous process. First I wrote what became the final chapter, and lastly I wrote the first five pages of the novel. Perhaps this is appropriate for a story that aims to address the whole of life, from our first love to our last goodbyes. In the time since THE NOTEBOOK was first published, I have written sixteen more novels and my memoir, Three Weeks with My Brother. Eight of these novels have been made into movies, including THE NOTEBOOK, which was released in theaters ten years ago. When I sat down to chart Noah and Allie's life story all those years ago, I could never have anticipated my own journey and will always cherish THE NOTEBOOK, where one of my greatest adventures began.
