A dark history lingers at Chapel Croft. Five hundred years ago, the local Protestant martyrs were betrayed and then burned. Thirty years ago, two teenagers disappeared without a trace. And a few weeks ago, the vicar of the local parish hanged himself in the nave of the church.
Reverend Jack Brooks, a single father with a fourteen-year-old daughter and a deep conscience, comes to town hoping for a fresh start. Instead, Jack finds a city rife with conspiracies and secrets, and is greeted with a strange welcome package: an exorcism kit and a note warning: “But there is nothing hidden that is not revealed or hidden that is not known. ”
The more Jack and his daughter, Flo, explore the city and meet its strange inhabitants, the more they become immersed in the old divisions, mysteries and suspicions. And when Flo begins to see specters of girls on fire, it becomes clear that there are ghosts here who refuse to be buried.
Uncovering the truth can be deadly in a town with a bloody past, where everyone has something to hide and no one trusts a stranger.
